How to Establish Your Authority as a Writer

Hello,

This week on Copyblogger, we had three pieces of content focused on growing your authority as a writer and content creator.

First, Brian Clark talked about cornerstone content. In my opinion, creating solid cornerstone content is one of the most important elements of your website and business.

"The first goal of cornerstone content is usefulness and relevancy to the website visitor, no matter how they arrive. The second goal is to make that content so compelling and comprehensive that people are willing — no, make that 'excited' — to link to it."

Read this article to learn how to craft your own powerful cornerstone content.

Second, I interviewed my new friend Ed Gandia about turning pro as a freelancer. Ed's story is one of dedication to finding his place as a full-time freelance writer, with no previous writing experience. Ed shares how creating a niche focus allowed him to expand his business, and how you can do the same with your business as well.

Lastly, Stefanie Flaxman outlined a way to edit your own writing. Stefanie argues that a lack of objectivity stunts your potential, and she guides you through five steps to pinpoint, and then strengthen, the weakest parts of your text.

No matter where you are on your path as a writer or content creator, this week's tips will help you build greater authority in your niche.

Until next week,
